While redesigning the set for MTV LIVE we created a faux brick wall in the background, custom table, TV frame and produced a series of 30 custom art piece pillows for the 2008 launch. The collection was a collaboration between Jellyfunk's Adam Nathan, the Drake Hotel's Tyler Longshaw, MTV, and Toronto clothing brand Model Citizen. Final pieces produced by Adam & Tyler.
There aren’t many pics of the sets but we did a few different sets for The Hills After Show where Schitt’s Creek’s co-creator Dan Levy, and Canada’s Smartest Person and many other shows, Jessi Cruikshank got started.
This was the first project that started it all with MTV. Within the first year MTV LIVE was running, they wanted a little set in a corner just with a Christmas tree and some presents…I took that differently. I instantly liked everyone at the network. They were raw and quirky so I felt i had license to go insane… and I did. I gave them a burnt tree with doll head ornaments, a scene of a kid walking in on her mum intimate with Santa, condoms as stockings on the mantle, vinyl record snowflakes for their live performance area and, just for my own amusement, I produced a series of bumpers for them to use to go to commercials with drunk snowmen who soiled themselves and threw up. We had a pretty good relationship after that.
